ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance:
- Filter Changes: Perform routine air filter changes for HVAC systems to maintain air quality and system efficiency.
- General Maintenance: Assist with light carpentry, electrical, and mechanical repairs as needed, ensuring that buildings and equipment are in good working condition.
- Plumbing: Help with basic plumbing tasks such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and addressing minor plumbing issues.
- Inventory Control: Assist in tracking and managing the inventory of maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies. Ensure proper storage and maintenance of all items.
- Preventive Maintenance: Support in preventive maintenance tasks, including inspecting equipment and systems for wear and tear and completing necessary repairs.
Groundskeeping and Environmental Services:
- Composting: Manage composting operations by collecting organic waste, ensuring proper sorting, and maintaining compost bins or piles.
- Waste Management: Help with the collection, sorting, and disposal of waste materials, ensuring proper segregation of recyclables, compost, and landfill waste.
- Recycling: Assist in maintaining recycling stations, ensuring that materials are properly sorted, and assist with recycling outreach and education.
- Sports Turf Management: Assist with maintaining sports fields, including mowing, seeding, irrigation management, and ensuring fields are in playable condition.
- Street and Grounds Maintenance: Assist with street and grounds cleaning, including litter removal, weeding, and maintaining the appearance of public areas.
- Landscaping: Perform basic landscaping tasks such as planting, mulching, trimming, and caring for plant beds and lawns.
Custodial Services:
- Cleaning: Clean and sanitize indoor spaces, including restrooms, hallways, common areas, and offices.
- Trash Removal: Empty trash bins and replace liners throughout the facility. Ensure cleanliness of all areas.
- Floor Care: Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors as necessary. Assist in maintaining the appearance of carpets and tiles.
- Supply Management: Monitor and restock custodial supplies, ensuring cleaning equipment and materials are available and in working condition.
Administrative Support:
- Office Assistance: Assist with general office duties, including answering phones, managing emails, and greeting visitors.
- Document Management: Help organize and maintain filing systems, both physical and digital, work orders, and other documents.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Assist with scheduling routine maintenance, grounds tasks, or custodial needs, and coordinate with team members or supervisors to ensure tasks are completed on time.
- Data Entry and Reporting: Assist with tracking maintenance activities, waste management reports, and other operational logs. Input data into spreadsheets or management software.
- Assist with preparing work orders, inventory lists, and daily task logs.
- Event Support: Assist with setting up and breaking down events or meetings, ensuring that spaces are prepared for use and cleaned afterward.
- Help with other office-related tasks such as preparing meeting materials or distributing notices.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Safety Protocols: Ensure all tasks are performed in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Emergency Response: Be available to assist with emergency repairs or cleaning tasks as they arise.
- Team Support: Collaborate with team members across departments, assisting wherever necessary to maintain smooth operations during the summer period
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
- Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED (current students or recent graduates encouraged to apply).
- Some experience or interest in maintenance, groundskeeping, custodial services, or office administration preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, maintenance, and groundskeeping tasks is a plus.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Must be reliable, detail-oriented, and able to follow instructions.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items as required for maintenance and grounds tasks.
- Valid driver's license (if applicable for certain tasks).

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment

The position also entails frequent exposure to environmental factors such as extreme temperatures, dust, dirt, fumes, smoke, and loud noises.
Driving Requirements
If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.
