This role requires someone with strong intellectual curiosity, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to synthesize complex information quickly. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-moving media environment and can track the news cycle, identify relevant developments, and translate them into actionable research and show content.
While the position supports the broader production team, it works closely with senior editorial leadership and plays a key role in ensuring that the show’s research, supporting materials, and story framing are accurate, relevant, and production-ready.
Success in this role requires an individual who can operate independently, anticipate editorial needs, and maintain composure in high-pressure situations with tight deadlines.
In addition to research and editorial responsibilities, the role requires a strong digital instinct, including the ability to identify moments and clips from the show that will perform well on social media.
Editorial Research
Conduct in-depth research on topics related to American politics, global affairs, and cultural issues
Monitor the daily news cycle and identify stories relevant to the show
Provide accurate research briefs, supporting material, and context for producers and host
Fact-check claims, sources, and supporting information used during the show
Story Development
Assist producers with developing segments and editorial framing
Compile research packets and talking points for show preparation
Surface angles, context, or supporting materials that strengthen show discussions
Live Production Support
Provide lightning fast research and information support during live broadcasts with unimpeachable accuracy
Quickly source information, context, or verification during time-sensitive moments
Social Media Editorial
Identify clips and moments from the show that are strong candidates for digital distribution
Maintain awareness of what resonates across platforms and how show content translates online
Support editorial decisions around short-form digital content
Long-Form Content Support
Assist with research and scripting for video essay projects and long-form editorial content
Contribute ideas and supporting material for deeper investigative or analytical segments
News Cycle Awareness
Maintain a constant understanding of developments across:
American politics
International politics
Cultural and entertainment news
Track narratives and emerging stories that may influence upcoming shows
