Major Gifts Officer (MGO)Conservative Partnership Institute
Conservative Partnership Institute seeks Major Gift Officer (MGO) candidates for a partner conservative organization's development team in a senior relationship-building and fundraising role. The MGO will be responsible for managing and expanding a significant donor portfolio. Balancing frequent travel and donor interfacing with consistent stewardship, proactive planning, and strategic execution, the MGO will identify prospective donors and develop and enhance relationships with existing donors through a variety of methods, including in-person meetings, targeted communications, special events, and major campaigns. The MGO will report to the Chief Development Officer and the Executive Director of External Affairs, and work closely with the External Affairs Team.
Proactively manage a portfolio of 125 – 175 current and prospective donors.
Extensive travel to meet with current and prospective donors.
Develop and maintain an excellent understanding of AFL’s mission, priorities, and work, including keeping up with our specific litigation and oversight efforts.
Communicate AFL’s mission, priorities, and work effectively and persuasively to current and prospective donors, while also being an exceptional listener and understanding their passions, values, stories, and needs.
Conduct frequent in-person meetings and high-touch communications with current and prospective donors to convey AFL’s mission, accomplishments, and plans, resulting in increased and sustained support.
Craft targeted proposals for current and prospective donors that align donor
interest with AFL action and impact.
Plan and execute targeted fundraising strategies and campaigns designed to increase major donor engagement and giving.
Consistently identify new prospective donors and engage in specialized cultivation efforts.
Assist in creating high-caliber proposals and materials that demonstrate measurable impact, build credibility and trust, and ultimately secure increased support.
Track donor engagement activities in the development CRM by recording all current and potential donor interactions in a comprehensive, timely, and accurate manner.
Collaborate with the Development Team, Communications Team, and AFL Leadership.
Location is flexible.
At least 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or sales is preferred. Prior experience securing five- and six-figure gifts is preferred, but not required.
Alignment with the conservative movement and America First values is required. Ability to prospect and close individual major gifts.
Growth and goal-oriented mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High standard of professionalism, humility, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Willingness and ability to travel frequently is required.
