We produce content across four YouTube channels: Reason TV, The Reason Roundtable, Free Media, and The Reason Interview With Nick Gillespie. One day, you might be helping produce a fast-paced breaking news show, and the next, you’re contributing to a documentary or shaping a story for something new. It’s an energetic, collaborative environment where creative people have a real hand in bringing important ideas to life. We’re now seeking an associate producer to join our growing team. This is a full-time, in-person position based in Reason’s Washington, DC, office.About the RoleAs the associate producer, you will help produce the shows and interviews filmed in our Washington, D.C., studio by working closely with our short-form video creators as both an editor and on-site shooter. You’ll have the opportunity to research, develop, and pitch original video story ideas and grow as our content expands. The ideal candidate is dependable, has a passion for content creation, and excels in a fast-paced environment. They not only have a strong understanding of the libertarian perspective but comprehend Reason’s role and stance on a variety of issues. This is a full-time, junior-level, in-person position based in Reason’s Washington, D.C., office and studio, reporting to Managing Editor of Video and Podcasts Natalie Dowzicky.ResponsibilitiesFilm and edit short-form video contentClosely follow the news cycle to generate content ideas and topicsProvide creative direction during filmingCollaborate with editors, hosts, and the broader video team to deliver compelling work on deadlineQualifications0+ years of experience in video and/or cable news production, TV broadcasting, or an equivalent field preferredAbility to collaborate and communicate well with othersStrong time management and organizational skillsThe ability to do simple editing in Adobe Premiere is preferred, but not requiredDeep understanding of the libertarian worldview and alignment with Reason’s missionCompensation The salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 with flexibility based on experience.
